Since Ganz has labeled the original Party Packs "Room Packs," for the purposes of this guide "Room Party Packs" are the original style party packs, which include a themed room for the party. "House Party Packs" will refer to the newer Party Packs that are meant to be used in your own rooms.
Party at YOUR house
Unlike Room Party Packs which take place in a themed room elsewhere, House Party Packs are for parties that you want to host in a room at your Webkinz World house. The games, prizes, and loot are the same as those in Room Party Packs, but with a House Party Pack, the party will take place in a regular room at your Webkinz World home, indoor or outdoor, and there will be no party food, changes, or decorations added to your room. Your room will look exactly the way it always does.
If you've ever wanted to invite friends over to one of your rooms for a party, and wished you could also have the same games and loot bags that are available in the themed Room Parties, then the House Party Packs are for you
Why do House Party Packs have themes if there are no decorations?
The only parts of the House Party Pack that relate to the themes, are the stationery/invitations. Think of it as being similar to parties you throw in your real life home. If you've decided to have a Birthday Party, you go to the store and buy Birthday invitations. If you'd like to have a Garden Party, you go to the store and buy Garden Party invitations. That's what these are. No matter which House Party Pack theme you choose, everything at the party will be identical. The difference is that you can send invitations that are related to the kind of party you want to have.
- Stationery previews can be seen in the Party Pack Themes guide.
No host, no party
Unlike Room Party Packs where the party can start with or without a host present, with House Party Packs, if the party host isn't online and in their room at the time of the Party, the party will not take place.
Which room will the party be in?
The party will take place in whichever room the host is in at the time the party starts. Once the party starts you cannot switch rooms, so make sure you're in the right place! If you're the host and you're in your party room at the correct time, but the party isn't starting, don't walk into another room. If you do, that may become your party room. Instead, try going to the newspaper and going back to "My Room" again and see if that starts your party. If it doesn't, you may have to walk into another room and have the party there.
Late Guests and Missing "Go To Party" Buttons
Unlike Room Party Packs, where the "Go To Party" button is visible to Guests at all times throughout the party, with House Party Packs, Late Party Guests will only see a "Go To Party" button after a new game starts. It doesn't matter if everyone at the party has finished playing the current game. So long as the countdown for the NEXT game is still in progress, late guests will not see a "Go To Party" button in their room. Once the countdown for the next game at the party finishes, and that new game starts, a "Go to Party" button will appear in the rooms of Late Party Guests. If you are a party guest, and you don't see a "Go To Party" button during party time, wait in your room for about six minutes and see if it appears. Don't keep logging in and out or you may miss it!
* Customer Service says this Late Party Guest difference only applies to House Parties (held in your own room). For Room Parties (held at a themed room elsewhere), guests should still be able to arrive at any point during the party.
Party is restricted to one room only
During a party, no one can visit other rooms in the party house. A map of the house can be viewed, but no one can jump or walk into another room.
I didn't get my loot bag
Guests arriving after the "Grab A Loot Bag" button appears may not see the loot bag button. It's a glitch.
House Party Packs are a little cheaper than Room Party Packs. Probably because you don't have to "rent a room" ;)
Which is which?
When shopping for a Party Pack at the W-Shop, House Party Packs, which are designed to be used in your own room, will have a small house icon on them. Room Party Packs, which include a themed room for your party, will not, and they will also say "Room Pack" in the title. House Party Packs also cost less than Room Party Packs.
Time Zones (Because this wasn't confusing enough before...)
As of the date and time of this post (9/10/10) party times in the party scheduler, and in party invitations, are being shown in the kinztime of the type of account you're logged into (American, European, or Asian kinztime.), and party widgets are converting party times to the physical location of the user and their computer.
When you schedule a party, the time slots shown correspond to the Kinztime of the type of account you're on (American, European, Asian). If you are scheduling a party from a European Account, the Party Times shown will be in EUROPEAN Kinztime. So if you want a party to occur at 12:30pm American KT (EST), and you're scheduling the party from a European account, you will need to schedule the party for 5:30pm (5:30pm in European Kinztime is 12:30pm in American Kinztime.)
Guests with Asian accounts will receive invitations showing the party in Asian Kinztime. Guests with American Accounts will receive invitations showing the party in American Kinztime. Guests with European Accounts will receive invitations showing the party in European Kinztime.
Party Widget Times
Party Widgets (which can be seen on the party host's "My Page" -if they've set one up) will convert the party time to the time the USER is in. Not the account's Kinztime, but the user's physical location. Where you are, right now, sitting at your computer. Your time zone. If you and your computer are sitting in Central Standard Time, and you look at a party host's party widget, the widget will show what time the party will occur in Central Standard Time, regardless of whether the account you're logged into is an American, European, or Asian account.
* Ganz Customer Service has confirmed that the above time references now apply to all Party Packs. Both the party scheduling time slots and the invitations you receive will correspond to the kinztime of the type of account you're logged into (American, European, Asian.)
* If you need help figuring out what time a party will take place where you live, and your party host has not installed a party widget on their "My Page," check out our time conversion chart.
Tips for Party Hosts
- Balloons are cute and look perfect for parties, but since they're animated, they might really slow things down in your party room. Try to keep animated items in your party room to a minimum.
- If you have any interactive slides, trampolines, or food dispensers in your Webkinz home, consider putting some in your Party Room to keep your guests entertained between games!
- Make sure nothing is blocking the entrances to your party room, otherwise your guests won't be able to walk in! - Thanks to Marnabear for this tip!
